Minimum wage of Shanghai rises from April 1st, 2018. The monthly minimum wage rises from 2300 yuan to 2420 yuan; hourly minimum wage rise from 20 yuan to 21 yuan.

Monthly minimum wage is applied for those full-time employees who provide labour in the legal work time or the work time agreed in the labour contract. The monthly minimum wage is exclusive of the individual part of social insurance and housing fund, which shall be paid by the employer separately. Also the over-time work fees, allowance for night shift, high temperature allowance during summer time or allowance for poisonous or endangering working environment, food subsidy, traffic allowance, housing allowance shall not be included in the monthly minimum wage, which shall be paid by the employer separately.

Hourly minimum wage is applied for part-time employees, whose work time cannot exceed 4 hours per workday and 24 hours per week. The hourly minimum is exclusive the individual and employer part of the social insurance.

Considering the household basic budget of low income family, citizen consumer price index, average income, economic level, human resource cost, trying the best to protect the employer of the low income the sense of achievement, and meanwhile to protect both the employer and employee’s interest under the current economic environment, the minimum wage is thereby settled.
