With the increase of employment cost, trend of old employment shows in some trade. Hire employees after retirement become normal, especially in service industry. Journalist form Labor News noticed that quite a few convenient store and canteen explicitly instruct “retired only”in recruitment. Employers also benefits in low payment, “naked income”, long work time and no standard contract in recruit retired workers.

Experts think apart from saving social insurance to reduce employment cost for the employers, low social status and long promotion period also lead to the difficulty to recruit young employee. On the other hand, some technical positions such as accountant, teacher, doctor, human resource etc requires long-term experience, many employers tend to approach the elderly not only for their expertise, but also for their rich social resources and connections.

Survey launched by Labor News shows as to the motive of recruit the retired, 42% interviewees preferred low cost and no social insurance requirement.  31% and 19% interviewees think rich experience and easy management are also a reason.

Whether because of the decrease cost for the employers or the need to achieve for the elderly, employment of the retired obviously has been quite a big market. Some people say they rob the job for the young generation, others say the elderly also have the labor right to choose work or not.

Journalist interviews the experts to profoundly understand the phenomenon. Qu Hui, expert on human resource thinks it is reasonable for the employers to hire the retired workers, but it will impact the employment and promotion speed for the young.

Zuo Xuejin, director of Shanghai Social Science Academy Economics Research Institute, thinks extend the retire age is definite, the retired is a precious human resource. Return of the high-technical employees can fill the important positions and ease the human resource structure shortage.

Meanwhile, retired employees also face some risks since they already parted from the identity of an employee when taking a job. Therefore they shall be sure to come into an employment contract with the employer to confirm the work, payment, medical treatment and other welfare.
